Unsettling Times

Saturday’s announcements that the SHFL 2019-20 season was at an end and that Brora Rangers were declared champions were the only decisions that could be taken in these unsettling times. Many congratulations to Brora Rangers after a fine season.

Our focus for the next few weeks and months has to be on family, community and getting through the many challenges COVID-19 is throwing our way.

For Deveronvale, as with many other clubs and businesses, the primary challenge is survival and we are grateful that our sponsors, from main sponsor Motive down to individual players sponsors and fans who are members of our 50/50 Club, remain prepared to stand by the Club in these difficult times. The support we receive is very much appreciated and crucial to seeing the Club continue as a focus for senior football in Banff and Macduff and the surrounding area.

We’d also like to give a big thanks to the Club’s management and players who, despite the pressures they face in their own lives, have offered to give up 100% of their wages, providing the Club with a lifeline at a time when gate income and income from hospitality or social events just isn’t available. That gesture is very much appreciated by the board of directors and, I’m sure, by all who hold Deveronvale dear.

It’s been said by many people, but we will come through the current challenges and see life return to normal. For the meantime it is a matter of taking care, looking after ourselves and our families and following the guidance we get. Hopefully, we can get through these very troubling times by doing this and, most importantly, by looking out for each other, supporting our neighbours and our local businesses in these tough times.
