Minute’s Applause for Jimmy French

We will hold a minute’s applause on Saturday ahead of our game against Fort William in memory of Jimmy French who passed away on Wednesday January 15th, a few days short of his 80th birthday. Known to many as “Delaney” (after the Celtic and Man Utd legend), Jimmy had been seen (and heard!) at Vale matches for well over 60 years and had been a Vale committee member in his earlier days.

Jimmy had a varied career working for AD Walker, as a baker in Macduff and as a fisherman on the local boat, Ocean Challenge, for 20 years before his retirement. He was a keen and active golfer and willingly helped out at Royal Tarlair when they needed support for events. He will be sadly missed by his children Jacqueline, Gwen and Jennifer, by his wider family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as all at Deveronvale. Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.
