Former Vale Player, Jim George, Passes Away

All involved with Deveronvale were very sad to hear of the passing of former Vale goalkeeper, Jim George, on Friday 25th March at the age of 65. Hamilton born Jim joined the Club in 1976 after being released by Aberdeen. Whilst he only stayed one season in his first spell at PRP before joining Elgin City, Jim signed again for the Vale in 1978 for a number of seasons before moving to Inverness Thistle. Jim retired at age 29 through injury.

Jim maintained his involvement in North-east football as a manager in Junior football for Inverurie Locos, Turriff Utd, East End, Formartine and Banks o Dee and in the Highland League with Lossiemouth.

Everyone who knew Jim regarded him as both a gentleman and a real football man and his death at a relatively young age has come as a real shock. Deveronvale sends their sincere condolences to Jim’s family and a minute’s silence will be held at PRP on Saturday 2nd April before our game against Formartine United to pay our respects to a much respected man.
