Briefly outline your football career prior to joining Deveronvale?
Had spells with Islavale, Turriff United, Rothes and Lossiemouth.
Which year(s) did you play for Deveronvale? Who signed you for the club, and what attracted you to join ?
I signed for the Vale in May 1997. I was attracted to sign by manager Alan Scott, and by the new facilities at Princess Royal Park. I left to join Turriff United in February 2000 in a swap deal which saw Derek Craigie move to Banff.
What are your fondest memories of your time with the club?
I enjoyed my time at the Vale, especially games at home on the best pitch and facilities in the Highland League.
What is the most memorable game(s) you played in for Vale, and why?
Three games come to mind. I played as a trialist against Inverness Thistle at Kingsmills in August 1988 when Neil Clark was manager, a game which we lost 6-0. In October 1998 we played Keith in a league game at Kynoch Park. We won 3-1 and I scored a first-half hat-trick. Later that month, I played in a truly remarkable game at Rothes. We were losing 5-1 with 13 minutes to go, and somehow managed to win the game 6-5. Goals from Tony Farquhar, myself, James 'Champ' Milne, Chris Gray, Tony Yeats, and Nigel Montgomery getting the last-gasp winner.
Who were the characters at the club ?
Every Vale fan is mad...about their club of course ! Never a dull moment with Nigel Montgomery in the dressing room.
Who were the best players you played with at the Vale and why?
Nigel Montgomery rarely played badly.
And who were the best players you played against, and why?
The Huntly side under 'Pele' were very powerful.
What have you done in a football sense since you left the Vale ?
Spent two seasons playing at Buckie, and now now in my 9th season at Forres. Four of them as a player, and the rest as coach.
