Gregg Carrol rotated his squad for his side's second game in three days as the Banffers continued their pre-season warm-up with another home game against senior opposition.
Out of the starting eleven went James Blanchard, Paul Urquhart, Robbie Brown, Mike McKenzie, Ian Murray & Mark Chisholm and they were replaced by Ross Bremner, Danny Craib, Mark Slater, Grant Noble, Jamie Watt & Terry Kidd as the Vale boss gave his complete squad a chance to stake their claim for a first team slot come the start of the season.
The recently promoted Buchan outfit under the guidance of former Highland League star Ian Stewart travelled the short distance to Banff looking for a morale boosting performance ahead of their difficult season ahead in the Scottish Second Division.

Peterhead were quickest out of the blocks and a second minute corner saw the re-instated Ross Bremner punch weakly before defender Mark Slater & Bryan Dlugonski combined to block Bobby Linn's drive from the edge of the box.
Terry Kidd pulled a 25-yarder well wide of target and at the other end Bobby Linn fired inches wide of Ross Bremner's right-hand upright.
Youngson's run and attempted chip was well saved by Bremner who needed all six feet plus of height to prevent the ball sneaking out of his reach and into the net.
Ross McWilliam's cross from the right found the run of Kenny Gilbert, who seemed to cover every blade of grass during the first period, but the workaholic failed to get enough on his header to test McCafferty in between the Blue Toon posts.
On the half hour a driving run at the heart of the Peterhead defence from Mark Smith, after good work by Jamie Watt, almost paid off when he eventually unleashed a strike at goal but his attempt flew a foot past the right-hand post.
Stewart came close at the other end two minutes later with a diving header which just failed to see the net bulge following a free kick.
A mistake by Mark Smith in the middle of the park very nearly resulted in the opener for the visitors but Andy Gibson failed to capitalise when set-up by the impressive Bobby Linn, the midfielder firing weakly at Bremner from just 12-yards.
Right on the stroke of the half-time Jamie Watt looked to have given the hosts the lead when he headed Kenny Gilbert's bye-line cross beyond McCafferty and into the net via the far post but the scorer was harshly adjudged to be in an offside position by the stand-side assistant.
Half Time: 0-0
Alan Youngson easily put the visitors ahead just one minute after the re-start when a break down the Vale left-flank opened up an alarming amount of space for Michie to lay the ball off into the path of the midfielder who picked his spot from 12-yards with the home defence looking rather scarce.
Young striker Grant Noble who was finding the going tough against the huge and experienced Buchan defence saw an 18-yarder deflected for a fruitless corner as Vale responded.
A double substitution saw skipper Bryan Dlugonski and Grant Noble replaced by Mark Chisholm and Mike McKenzie respectively and almost immediately talisman McKenzie had a decent drive at goal blocked by the Peterhead defence.
At the opposite end Bremner flung himself at a Michie close range hooked shot which the big keeper brilliantly diverted to safety after fine play by Bobby Linn cutting inside two defenders before crossing to the unmarked Michie.
Five changes from the visitors' bench saw the game die a little until Mark Smith was fed in on goal by Kenny Gilbert's through ball but the red-haired midfield dynamo delayed his decision for a fraction, deciding whether to square to the waiting Jamie Watt or shoot for goal himself and this was enough time for the Blue Toon defence to clear the danger.
Mike McKenzie's fiercely hit drive was palmed to safety by McCafferty before Danny Craib cleared substitute Hagan's close range net-bound effort.
In an exciting finale to the match Ian Murray, who 10 minutes earlier had replaced the hard-working Jamie Watt, won a free kick 25-yards from goal and from the set-piece sent a superb arcing shot high over the despairing hand of McCafferty and into the top corner to earn his side a draw in an entertaining and hard fought friendly.
