Two goals in the space of five minutes late in the match saw Deveronvale go seven points clear at the top of the "Scot Ads Highland League" on Saturday after a hard-fought encounter at Grant Park.
Although kept relatively quite for the majority of the ninety minutes, by the home defence, Ian Murray was the difference between the two sides with his 28th and 29th goals of the season.
Lossiemouth were without striker Darren Shalliker and the ever- reliable Stuart Cameron while the Vale were almost at full strength bar Ryan Pressley, who fractured his cheekbone last Saturday and will be out of action for a few weeks.
Vale manager Gregg Carrol sprang a major surprise when he re-instated goalkeeper Barry Thompson between the sticks for the first time this season after the keeper withdrew his transfer request earlier in the week.

Vale won an early free kick in the second period but McKenzie's rasping effort whizzed past Main's upright, much to the static keeper's relief. Morrison tested Thompson as Lossie broke quickly but the big keeper held comfortably. Scott was extremely unlucky to see his shot on the turn come back off the underside of Vale's cross bar with Thompson well beaten. At the other end Main did well to divert Urquhart's pile driver over the top and from the resultant corner kick Dlugonski's snap-shot went just wide of the upright.
As the game started to open up Kinghorn hit a screamer, which had Main grasping at fresh air but the ball hit the back of the rigging rather than the back of the net.
Sim had to head clear a few feet from under his own cross bar after McKenzie had rounded Main and fired goal wards. McKenzie then carved out an opening for strike partner Murray but the latter's first touch let him down and the opportunity went a begging.
Main did well to block McKenzie's close range effort as Vale turned up the heat on the Lossie defence and went looking for the all-important opener.
A brilliant one-handed save from Main prevented Murray from giving the visitors the lead, the keeper being aided by his right-hand post as part of the clearance.
Vale were awarded a penalty kick after 80 minutes when Noble was adjudged to have fouled McKenzie 12 yards from goal.
Ian MURRAY stepped up to send Main the wrong way from the spot and put the Banff side into a deserved lead. MURRAY made it two five minutes later when he took a pass from McKenzie before steering the ball past Main after the unfortunate keeper had presented McKenzie with the ball whilst attempting to clear upfield.
Substitute Barrie Stephen had the ball in the net on the stroke of full-time but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Vale boss Gregg Carrol said "We did just enough over the piece to collect all three points which took a real effort over the last fifteen minutes to achieve". Carrol singled out Mike McKenzie for special praise although Murray, quite for seventy-nine minutes again did the business when it counted.
