Second place Deveronvale made their long trip to the west coast a memorable one for the large travelling support when they thumped ten goals past lowly Fort without reply with Top Scorer Ian Murray grabbing six.
The Banff side had found Claggan Park a hard place to visit over the past few seasons but their impressive display on Saturday saw the shell shocked home side finish the match with only nine men leaving them in complete disarray.
Vale welcomed back Robbie Brown to their starting line up with Ryan Pressley dropping to the bench.
The home side had regular keeper and skipper, John Campbell out through injury with Mark MacDonald filling the number one's jersey.
As the game kicked off Speirs was forced into an early save when he had to react quickly to a low shot, which the held comfortably.
A crude challenge by Vance on Murray cost the Fort player the first yellow card of the match although some referee's may well have produced a different colour such was the ferocity of the tackle from behind on the Vale number 10.
The home keeper did well to race off his line and beat Chisholm to a Stephen through ball with the Fort back line a little square and rather high up the pitch.
However minutes later the deputising MacDonald could do little to prevent the visitors taking an early lead.
Stephen knocked a high ball over the top of the flat home defence and Mike MCKENZIE run on to lob the ball over MacDonald, looking suspiciously offside in the process.
Vale went further ahead five minutes later when McKenzie unleashed Urquhart down the right and his low cross was turned home by MURRAY from 6 yards. MURRAY got his second when he took Urquhart's pass inside the box before stroking the ball home from close range with the home defence at sixes and sevens.
Brown almost made it four when he burst through the middle of the Fort defence only to be denied by MacDonald, who saved well low to his left.
Edwards had a rare chance at the other end but he screwed his shot wide when well placed.
Murray missed a great chance for the visitors when he and McKenzie sprang the home defence once more only to delay his pass allowing the relieved Fort keeper the chance to smother the ball.
Levi STEPHEN notched his second of the season for the visitors when he steered the ball past MacDonald from 12 yards following some great footwork by Murray in the Fort box.
Vale went 'nap' for the second Saturday in a row when MURRAY tapped home a Stephen cross from 5-yards, putting the visitors on 'easy street'.
Worse was to follow for the home side when the linesman pointed out to the referee an off-the-ball incident and Stuart Vance was sent for an early bath.
Barrie Stephen replaced the disappointed Mark Chisholm as manager Gregg Carrol made an early change to his side.
MURRAY scored again on the stroke of half time when he ran 30 yards before calmly slotting the ball past MacDonald.
Half Time: 0-6
Vale started the second period where they left off with Bryan DLUGONSKI scoring his first goal for the club when he latched onto a loose ball following a B. Stephen corner and smashed it low in to the net, much to the delight of the noisy Vale support and the 'Birthday Boy' himself.
Mike McKenzie struck the foot of the post with a 25-yard free kick and Scott Anderson knocked the rebound wide, when well placed, as Vale continued their surge forward for more goals.
Substitute Nigel Montgomery got into the act when he set up Mike MCKENZIE for his second of the match with a cushioned header into the striker's path, following a Kinghorn cross into the penalty area.
A combination of Speirs and Kinghorn kept Vale's goal intact, thwarting Drummond as he looked to pounce on a loose ball in the visitor's 6-yard box.
McKenzie then blasted wide after Dlugonski's bursting run down the left wing had picked out the striker in acres of room, 16 yards from goal.
Brown saw his drive blocked by the legs of the Fort keeper and then Dolan fired over from 20 yards with the home side struggling to clear their lines.
Murray was tripped in the box as he ran onto a Montgomery through ball and referee Hassan was quick to point to the spot.
Edwards was shown the red card for attempting to head-butt MURRAY before the striker netted the resultant spot kick for his 20th goal of the season. MURRAY was still not finished and chipped the ball over the despairing MacDonald to complete his double hat trick with only four minutes left on the clock.
Full Time: 0-10
A delighted Vale boss said after the match "We have always found it a difficult place to come but once we got the two early goals there was never any doubt where the points were going".
