VALE GO TOP THANKS TO THE USUAL SUSPECTS

Cove Rangers 1-2 Deveronvale
Coutts 67 Chisholm 70
Murray 73
Vale went top of the Scot Ads Highland League for the first time this season with a hard earned victory at Allan Park on Saturday, their third victory at Cove in as many games.
Dynamic duo, Mark Chisholm and Ian Murray chipped in with a goal a piece as Vale had to come from behind to earn all three points.
Boss Gregg Carrol saw fit to shuffle his pack for the trip to the Granite City with Barrie Stephen and Paul Urquhart dropping to the subs bench and Darren McAllister and Robbie Brown taking their place's respectively in the starting eleven.
Cove kicked off the match and came very close to taking the lead after only thirty seconds. John Coutts, who was deputising for the unavailable Mike Beattie, shaved the cross bar with a speculative effort from 25 yards, with Speirs well beaten.
At the other end Coull pulled off a fine save from McKenzie's fiercely hit drive after Murray had opened up the Cove defence.
Dolan was on hand to block Coull's effort in the box as play raged from end to end. The visitors had loud shouts for a penalty on the quarter hour mark when Murray broke free into the Cove penalty box and rounded the advancing Coull only to be bundled over by the Cove keeper. However referee Halliday waved play on much to the annoyance of the noisy travelling support. Murray, still hurting from the decision was booked for his persistent protests.
Cove, who were also missing John Brown and Gary Clark, were giving the visiting defence plenty cause for concern with their early balls over the top but the Vale rearguard, marshalled by Scott Anderson, stood firm.
Kinghorn's 25-yard pile driver screamed over the top before Chisholm burst into the Cove box only to see Murphy clear the danger, as the midfielder looked to shoot. Dolan then tested Coull at his near post following a short corner but the keeper was quickly down to save. McKenzie's free kick was deflected for a corner and from the set piece Chisholm headed downwards towards goal only to see Coull save the day again for the home side.

Half Time: 0-0

Murray was inches wide with an overhead kick after McKenzie had found his strike partner at the back post. Murray, who was causing the home defence all sorts of bother, had a header hooked clear before Dolan saw his free kick easily gathered by Coull. At the other end Coutts headed over from close range following a quick break away by the home side. The game started to open up and play went from end to end as both sides looked for the opener.
Coutts slipped the Vale defence only to be thwarted by the stand-side linesman's flag as the travelling fans breathed a sigh of relief. Brown came close with a cut inside followed by a low drive which Coull held before the home side opened the scoring.
Summers looped a high ball over the Vale back four and Coutts ran on to blast the ball past Speirs from 12 yards. Vale, however, were not to be denied and equalised three minutes later.
Brown, who had lost possession moments before Cove had scored, made up for his error when he slipped a neat through ball to Mark CHISHOLM and the inform midfielder made no mistake rifling the ball high past Coull from 16 yards. Three frantic minutes later and the visitors were in the lead.
Ian MURRAY was downed on the edge of the penalty box as he tried to elude the home defence and from the resultant free kick the wee striker completely fooled Coull by placing an unstoppable shot low to the keeper's right when it looked as though he was only going to step over the ball and leave it to Levi Stephen. Kenny Coull fired in a low shot, which crept past Speir's upright, as Cove tried to hit back.
Substitute Paul Urquhart was then very unlucky to see his shot come back off the underside of the cross bar and bounce to safety with the Cove number one grasping at fresh air.
Coutts had the last chance of the game but couldn't find the target, blasting high over the top under the close attention of Steve Dolan.
As the final whistle blew the large travelling support, which included a band of young vociferous fans who sang their hearts out for ninety minutes, cheered with delight after a well earned three points sent their side to the top of the table.
