Vale won their first Aberdeenshire Shield for eight years thanks to 'ice cool' Ian Murray who stayed calm amongst the mayhem to slot a last minute penalty home after Locos had staged an amazing second half comeback to square the match at two-goals-a-piece.
With both sets of fans set for extra time referee Alan Freeland pointed to the spot after Murray himself had been fouled by Park inside the area and the wee striker dusted himself down before sending Christie the wrong way to earn Vale their first silverware of the season.

Vale had taken a two-goal half time lead through Murray and McKenzie and looked in total control of the match until McKay pulled a goal back early into the second period. This gave the Inverurie side a much needed lift and saw them claw back to deservedly equalise through substitute Davidson with only four minutes of normal time remaining.
The game started at a frantic pace with Fraser firing a free kick just over and at the other end Chisholm's angled effort drifted agonisingly wide of Christie's left-hand upright.
Urquhart's 20 yarder lacked the power to worry Christie and then Speirs did brilliantly to tip a rasping drive from McWilliam over his crossbar for a fruitless Locos corner.
Dolan caused havoc down the left before sending in a low cross, which was just missed by the in-rushing Murray at the back post.
A carbon copy Dolan run minutes later saw the Vale take an early lead.
Dolan 'megged' Bisset before firing-in an inch perfect cross for Ian MURRAY who sent a downward header past Christie from 6 yards.
Urquhart came close to putting the Vale two up when he was just beaten to the ball by Bisset following a wicked in-swinging Murray cross.
The Banff side got their second of the evening thanks to a superb piece of skill by Mike MCKENZIE. The ex-Montrose striker completely fooled Young inside the penalty area with a great body swerve before planting the ball beyond Christie and into the far corner of the net.
Vale were now in total control of proceedings and Kinghorn should have released Urquhart inside the box but instead elected to shoot and saw his shot blocked by Anderson.
Urquhart then headed narrowly past the upright following another Dolan raid down the left.
Referee Freeland felt the wrath of the Vale faithful just before half time when a sweeping move saw Urquhart released through on goal only for the ref to call back play for treatment to Vale's Mark Chisholm.

The second period started at a similar pace to the first and with Locos pinning Vale back into their own half.
The Banffer's goal had a close shave following a long free kick, which bounced about around the six-yard box with Walker and McKay both coming close to knocking the ball home before it was eventually cleared by Kinghorn.
The Inverurie side deservedly pulled a goal back ten minutes into the half when the unfortunate Scott Anderson deflected McKay's drive from 16 yards, which was going wide, past Speirs.
Murray's attempt to break free of the Loco's back line was crudely ended by Anderson's challenge with the defender yellow carded for his trouble. The Locos defensive wall blocked the resultant free kick by McKenzie before clearing the ball upfield.
Christie did well to cut-out a Stephen cross with Murray and McKenzie lurking in the 6 yard box as Vale went on a rare raid upfield.
Gregg Carrol made a much-needed change when he replaced the hobbling Mark Chisholm with Ryan Pressley with Vale hanging onto their slender lead.
Christie denied Murray with a comfortable save following a free kick in a dangerous position, 22 yards from goal.
The Vale goal had another scare when Walker headed inches wide of Speirs' left-hand post following another Locos corner kick.
With time running out and Vale playing out time Locos got their just reward for their gutsy second half performance.
Substitute Davidson rifling a great volley past the unsighted Speirs from 20 yards to draw the Inverurie side level.
Just as the game seemed destined for extra time Vale broke upfield and as Murray ran onto through ball he was upended by Park on the edge of the 6-yard box.
Up stepped Ian MURRAY who made no mistake from the spot to score his 24th goal of the season and hand the Vale the 100-year-old trophy.
Deep into injury time, substitute Darren McAllister had a great chance to put the issue beyond doubt but his effort was blocked.
To round off a good night for the Banff side Steve Dolan was awarded the sponsor's Man of the Match award.

Vale boss Gregg Carrol commented "I thought Locos thoroughly deserved to equalise and we had a real battle on our hands in the second half but I thought we just about warranted our win in a game played at a frantic pace".
A special mention must be made to both sets of supporters especially the large Banff support who sang their hearts out for ninety minutes, giving the Vale players a tremendous lift especially when Locos pulled level so late on in the match.
