Vale bounced back from Saturday's disappointment to reach the semi-final of the Aberdeenshire Shield at the expense of Huntly, scoring five goals against the visitors in the process, for the second time this season
A hat trick by Mike McKenzie was the highlight of a convincing victory for the home side although the final score line slightly flattered the Banffers who looked a bit disjointed for the first half hour of the encounter.
After a rather low key start to the match Huntly started to dictate the play and although Bremner did well to palm away a Brown header, following a Vale corner, it was no surprise that the Strathbogie side took the lead.
Brown conceded a needless free kick at the edge of the area and De Barros's flighted effort bounced off the foot of the post before hitting the unfortunate Fraser Speirs on it's way over the line.
The goal gave the visitors a lift and Speirs kept his team in the match with a fine save from Green's header before Dolan had to hack clear at the far stick following a dangerous low cross from Farmer, with Green looking to pounce.
Bremner was quickly off his line to clear as Murray looked to latch onto a McKenzie through ball and then Chisholm saw his flicked effort also saved by the Huntly number one as Vale looked to get back into the tie.
Vale equalised after 37 minutes when Bremner failed to hold a Murray free kick, which bounced awkwardly in front of him, and MCKENZIE was quick to pounce on the loose ball sending it high into the roof on the net from 6 yards.
Half Time:-1-1
The homesters started the second period brightly and immediately went looking for the all-important second goal.
Murray's turn in the Huntly opened up a great chance for strike partner Mike McKenzie but the latter completely fluffed his shot from 12 yards.
Dolan then sent in an inviting deep cross which Murray sent goal wards only to see the big hand of Bremner divert the ball to safety. Murray then played in Barrie Stephen but the speedy winger opted for power and in doing so blazed the ball over with only Bremner to beat.
Vale's continuous pressure eventually paid off on the hour mark when Levi Stephen chased a loose ball to the bye line before lobbing it back into the penalty box and Mark CHISHOLM rose high to power a header home from 4 yards.
The home side went further ahead five minutes later with an early contender for goal of the season.
Murray brilliantly turned Hendry inside out on the right-hand flank before spotting his fellow striker unmarked in the penalty area. If the cross was pinpoint then the finish was exquisite as Mike MCKENZIE's fierce volley hit the back of the net before Bremner could move.
Speirs made another super stop from Guild's close range header, as Huntly threw bodies forward in an effort to get back into the game.
Gregg Carrol made a couple of changes with Urquhart and McAllister replacing Chisholm and B. Stephen respectively.
Paul URQUHART made an immediate impact on the match with a well taken fourth for the Banffers, which all but sealed their passage into the next round.
Murray took a quick throw on the right to McKenzie and he picked out the on-rushing "Yogi" all on his own at the edge of the penalty area. The finish by the substitute was another beauty as he lobbed the ball high over the stranded Bremner and into the net.
Vale, however were not finished and Mike MCKENZIE, who was voted sponsor's man-of-the match, latched onto a loose ball in the Huntly box before sending it high past Bremner from close range with the visiting defence at 'sixes and sevens'.
Murray should have made it six with the last chance of the game but Bremner stood big to save "Molby's" effort with his legs.
Full Time:-5-1
Vale now travel to Fraserburgh in the semi-final of the competition with the other semi being contested between Keith and Inverurie Locos.
