Scorers: Watt 23, McHardy 25og, Brown 52, Nicol 64, McAllister 85 mins
Lossiemouth stood in the way of Deveronvale reaching their third major cup final of the season when they travelled to Princess Royal Park looking to do just what they did to the Banffers last month and come away with a victory. Until today the visitors were the only team which hadn't tasted defeat at the hands of their hosts so far this season although the Vale players were out looking to revenge last month's 1-0 reverse. Vale's line-up, surprisingly, was changed from Wednesday's win over Cove with Derek Craigie and Robbie Brown replacing Paul Urquhart and Franny More in the middle of the park.
The visitors were without influential defender Tony Newlands.
Lossie kicked off with a stiff breeze at their backs and soon had Vale defending in their own half without threatening Barry Thompson's goal. On Vale's first attack Main, under pressure from Chisholm, dropped Watt's cross but McHardy was on hand to boot clear. Witkowski gave the home defence a scare when he latched on to a loose Craigie ball but his rising shot cleared the crossbar.
Nicol should have opened the scoring when he broke clear down the left but as he cut-in on goal he delayed his shot allowing Maguire the chance to slide-in and clear the danger. Vale took the lead when Montgomery's free kick was nodded into the path of Jamie WATT by Nicol and the top-scorer waited for the ball to come down before burying it past Main from 12 yards. The home side increased their lead two minutes later with a bizarre own goal. Watt and Nicol broke clear of the visitor's defence and as McHARDY attempted to break-up the attack he sent the ball low past Main from a good 25 yards.
Shalliker headed wide before Thompson had to turn a McMullan close range header around his post at the expense of a corner as the visitors tried to get back into the game. Lossie won a free kick in a dangerous position but Witkowski hit the set piece into the Vale wall and then drove the rebound way over the top of Thompson's goal. As half time loomed Pressley saw his header off a Dolan corner gathered well by Main under his own cross bar.
Half Time:2-0
The home side squeezed up in the second period and their continuous pressure led to the third goal of the game. Kinghorn picked out BROWN in the box and he cut inside the defence before firing low past Main with the aid of a slight deflection. Nicol then made good progress in the Lossie penalty area but his final effort was disappointing as it flew over Main's cross bar. At the other end Morrison couldn't control his drive and it too went over the top.
Gary NICOL scored his second goal for his new club when he ran 30 yards unchallenged before slipping the ball past Main to put Vale on easy street. Watt was next to slip the Lossie rearguard but he fired wide of Main's left-hand post. Watt then attempted to lob the Lossie keeper but the latter was up to the effort and saved at full stretch.
Watt was causing the visitor's defence all sorts of problems and was through on Main once again but this time the keeper stood up well to touch the ball around his post for a corner which saw Chisholm's volley cleared off the line. It was all Vale as Lossie found it hard to get out of their own half and their goal survived another close shave in the 80th minute when Chisholm headed against the woodwork from Watt's centre with Main well beaten. Substitute Darren McALLISTER gave the Banffers a nap-hand with five minutes remaining when he lobbed Main from the edge of the area taking a heavy knock in the process for his troubles.
Vale will meet Forres Mechanics at Kynoch Park, Keith in the final on May 11th. A carbon copy of last years final, which was won by the Moray Coast side.
To make Vale's day ever better closest rivals Fraserburgh slipped up, losing at home in the league to Inverurie Locos
