Vale Storm The Fort   29/4/07
By Stewart McPherson

On a scorching day of sunshine and heat, Vale ended their season in style beating Fort William by five goals to nil. Goals coming from Steve Dolan, Scott Fraser, Mark Cowie, Mark Chisholm, and a late penalty from Mike Ewen.
Manager Gregg Carrol gave youngster Neale Allan his first start, and the blond-headed striker did well in his first game, as did Mark Donaldson who got on for the last twenty minutes.

Meanwhile, the HFL have announced the remaining league fixtures, which sees Vale travel to Fort William on Saturday 28th April to bring the curtain down on the Banffers' season.

The Fat Lady Sings for Vale   15/4/07
By Allan Whyte

At around 4.50 pm yesterday at Mosset Park, Forres the fat lady sang( rumoured to be the classic Delilah) - it is now official that the Vale can no longer mathematically retain their crown.

Vale lined up without player of the year supremo Mark Chisholm and goalkeeper James Blanchard. After a slow start the Vale went into a two goal lead within the first half hour through Brown and Ewen although both goals were down to excellent leading up play by Ian Murray. Forres cam back and with fifteen minutes left and turned around the deficit to lead 3-2. However a Fraser Bremner goal resulted in a draw which was probably a fair result.

Only one game out west to go with the club still awaiting white smoke from the Highland League to advise when the game at Fort will be played. Until then players and supporters can turn their thought to summer pursuits until the league kicks off again in August.

Loco's Railroad Vale   7/4/07
By Allan Forsyth

Deveronvale's faint chances of retaining the title diminished in their last home game of the season when they lost at the hands of visitors Locos by one goal to nil, a second defeat of the hands of the Garioch side this campaign.

Craig Ross was the man who mattered for the championship chasing side when he slotted home as early as the 5th minute after Neil McLean's left-footed strike had been well stopped by James Blanchard but had ran kindly into the path of the midfielder.

Gregg Carrol's charges were guilty of poor finishing in the first period, strikers Mike McKenzie and Mike Ewen passing up very good opportunities inside the six-yard box and it proved costly.

The second half was a none event with the visitors playing a containing game and trying to catch Vale on the break while the Banffers huffed and puffed without really threatening although Mark Smith did force former Dundee United keeper Paul Jarvie into a super save in the final five minutes.

Cambo's Master Stroke !   6/4/07
By Allan Forsyth

During the Scottish Cup run this season, Deveronvale added some new fans, some through the turnstiles, some via the TV looking to back the Non-League side against the senior sides.

However it is unlikely that any are as famous as US Open Golf winner Michael Campbell.

Campbell, from New Zealand, was bitten by the Vale bug whilst chatting to lifelong Deveronvale fan Scott Crockett during a break in the Dubai Open. Scott was waiting nervously for the Partick Thistle 4th round result coming through

At the time Campbell's natural enthusiasm and genuine interest promoted an offer from Scott to sign him up to the Deveronvale Supporters Club, which Michael did. Then came the offer of a Vale shirt with CAMBO 23 on the back.

Yesterday Scott presented Michael with his Deveronvale shirt at the US Masters at Augusta.

We wish Michael well after his first round 76, you can check his Masters progress at http://www.masters.org/en_US/index.html

5 Start Vale, 4 Goals, but only 3 Games To Go !!!   1/4/07
By Allan Forsyth

Four goals courtesy of Mike Ewen, Graeme Watt and a double from man of the match Mark Chisholm were enough to see off Broch as Vale continue to lead the pack at the summit of the HFL but with games running out Gregg Carrol must be reflecting back over the campaign about the points which got away.

With sixty points the maximum tally the Banffers can reach it’s unlikely to be enough to retain their title and dropped points at home to Fraserburgh and Rothes stick out as the disappointing ones although if Carrol’s charges do make the sixty mark it will set a decent target for the chasing pack to reach.
