After two postponements the Scottish Cup 2nd round tie at Greenock is on for 8pm tonight. Everyone is just glad that the game goes ahead Not I deal for the part-timers from Banff, but spirits are high within the Vale camp and there is expected to be a Vale support there. It may well be somewhat depleted from the droves who started to make there way to Greenock on the 4th. |

With Vale travelling down south today (Friday) the hope is that the game will still be on. A cold January day is expected, although the game is not in doubt at the moment. Manager Gregg Carrol travels to Greenock with a full squad available for selection, with a team high on confidence after last weeks win over Wick, and unbeaten in the league since the opening fixture in August. Morton are currently flying high in the bells 3rd Division, and have responded well to new Manager John McCormack. Vale of course have goal machine(s) Ian Murray, and partner Mike McKenzie, both of which have experience in playing in the 3rd Division, where Morton have their own gem in Alex Williams, having attracted interest from various senior Clubs. Vale are in fine goalscoring form and have scored an impressive 85 goals in all competitions (26 matches), 58 in the league, while conceding 29 in all competitions and only 13 in 17 league matches A welcome distraction for both clubs, as both have their own end of season goals. Vale to capture their first Highland League Title, where as Morton look to bounce back up a division.
With the potential financial gains for both clubs, each side will be looking to be in the hat for the next 3rd round. |
