I See A Trophy   2/5/03
By Allan

One fixture match to go, as Vale close the curtains on a magnificent League season. The Highland League trophy will be presented after the match, as I'm sure all supporters will know.
Prior to theat Vale must deal with Huntly, and try to preserve their unbeaten league record which goes back to day one of the season.

Mark Chisholm is available for selection after suspension against Loco's last week, so a full strength squad is at the dispense of Gregg Carrol

The Highland Football League Championship trophy is to presented to Deveronvale at the conclusion of this Saturday's game v. Huntly at Banff.

Highland Final Beckons   26/4/03
By Allan

Vale secured their 3rd consecutive Highland League Cup Final at the expense of Inverurie Locos.
No goals in the first half before Ian Murray banged home a penalty after Mike McKenzie was downed in the box. Locos equalised when referee Paul Cheyne allowed a quick free kick, with Vale keeper Speirs still organising his wall. Then with minutes remaining after a goalmouth scramble and goal line clearance Scott Anderson struck a sweet volley into the top right corner to clinch the Final place.

Vale will meet Keith on the 10th of May with early indications that the final will be at Huntly or Inverurie

Inverurie Locos stand in the way of Vale's third consecutive Highland League Cup Final.
Mike McKenzie will undergo a late fitness test after injuring himself in the coresponding league fixture at Harlaw Park last month, while Fraser Speirs looks to keep goal, with the departing Barry Thomson still suffering from a groin strain.

Hoodoo...... what hoodoo   16/4/03
By Allan

With a full moon in the clear sky, and in perfect climactic conditions, Vale ended their 20 year wait for a victory at Christie Park Huntly.
One down at half time, Vale had to battle hard to come back from a spirited Huntly performance.
Two goals in the second half, the winner coming from an Ian Murray penalty in the last 5 minutes, after Barry Stephen had turned his marker and was felled in the box to give Vale the three points.
Vale's final away fixture has seen the Banffers completing the season undefeated on their league travels, which may have the Highland League historians searching through the record books.
