Dugout Review - Fort William 08/05/10   10/5/10
By Management Team

Saturday's game pretty much summed up the season for ourselves, not
taking the chances to finish games off and losing cheap goals at very
bad times. We started the game brilliantly to get ahead early then had
numerous chances, including a penalty, to put the game to bed but we
failed to take them. The 2nd period we didn't create as much but were
comfortable and finally got the 2nd goal. We then are defensively
sloppy and allow them straight back into the game which gives them a big
lift. The equalizer was well offside but we shouldn't have allowed them
the opportunity in the first place.
We now finish off the campaign with a tough game at home against Cove on
Saturday.

Dugout Review - Turriff 17/04/10   20/4/10
By Management Team

We are all bitterly disappointed after Saturday's loss at Turriff.
We didn't hit the heights performance wise and paid the price for that. The first half we were unlucky not to be well in front, with their GK making 3 fantastic saves and the goal that was disallowed was very hard to take as there didn't appear to be any contact whatsoever.

We then get our noses in front with Michele's goal and could only see one winner in the game at that time but we failed to defend properly and conceded a really soft goal from a set piece and then a penalty.

Two very soft goals to concede and we just can't allow ourselves to give away cheap goals. We must now dust ourselves down and look to produce a performance on Wednesday against Clach.

Dugout Review - Strathspey 14/04/10   15/4/10
By Management Team

Last night's trip to Strathspey turned out to be another good 3 points,
with 5 well taken goals and a clean sheet. Travelling up there on a
Wednesday night was never going to be ideal, but the players turned in a
very professional performance. We knew Strathspey would be on a high
after their win against Fraserburgh at the weekend so it was important
we started well. We managed to get ourselves ahead and then got through
a 10/15 min spell where we allowed some chances for them to get back
into the game. We then went on to finish the half with some good
attacking play, creating a number of opportunities which we managed to
take.
The 2nd half we continued to work hard as a team and saw the game out
for the 3pts.
We now look forward to a 'local derby' on Saturday away to Turriff.

Dugout Review - Rothes 10/04/10   12/4/10
By Management Team

We stressed to the players that a good start in games is imperative and
we managed to start the game on Saturday very well and got an early
goal. It settled us and we dominated really from there on.

To get the 2nd and 3rd goals before half time pretty much finished the
game as a contest. In the 2nd half we let Rothes off the hook to a
certain extent, as we created plenty chances but could only score one
more. Credit must also go to their goalkeeper who had a number of good
saves and blocks to keep us out.

We now move on to Strathspey on Wednesday which will be a very tough
encounter, especially after their result against Fraserburgh. We will
continue to try and gain as many points as we can and see where that
takes us.

Dugout Review - Huntly 07/04/10   8/4/10
By Management Team

Last nights match was a very hard fought win at Huntly.

We asked the players to show a bit of passion and urgency as a reaction to
Saturday. They certainly showed plenty of passion and a will to win the
match. It was never going to be pretty and the players had to defend at
crucial times. They threw bodies in front of shots at goal and Blanchie
also pulled off a couple of great saves. But these are the things you have
to do week in week out to win games.

The determination of the players was shown early in the game at the first
goal when Mark Chisolm  chased the ball into the corner and dug out a great
left foot cross for Michele to score. Unfortunately we then lost Chis to a
hamstring injury.

It was good for Michele to come in and score two goals on his full debut as
he has been waiting patiently for his chance and he certainly did not give
his old Huntly team mates a moments peace.

We know need to take this level of determination into our next game against
Rothes.

Dugout Review - Wick Academy 03/04/10   5/4/10
By Management Team

If you give away goals like we did on Saturday, you will never win games.
We stood off Wick and allowed them  to play. Any team in the league could
have passed the ball around us on Saturday as we did not press the ball
with any urgency and did not have enough desire to win the ball back.

In saying that we still came in at half time all square and the players
knew at half time that they had not performed and were determined to go out
in the 2nd half and put that right. We never then gave ourselves a platform
to go and do this with the loss of the 3rd goal. You can never legislate
for goals like that, especially when it comes down to the basics of
communication and simple decision making.

We did have some very good opportunities late in the game to snatch a draw,
but really needed to show this urgency earlier in the game.

Other teams are now very much in the driving seat for the league title, but
we just need to ensure we are ready in the waiting for any slip ups.

Dugout Review - Brora 27/03/10   29/3/10
By Management Team

Saturday's 3 pts away to Brora continued our decent League form. Brora is not an easy place to go so to come away with a win, while scoring 5 goals and recording another clean sheet, was very pleasing.

We played against the strong wind in the 1st half and although we did not reach the heights with our attacking play, we kept things very tight and got a break to open the scoring. Mike scored again just before the break to put us in a very strong position.

The 2nd half we dominated, but the big difference was the introduction of Stephen Gauld. He was unplayable at times, running at defenders and had a major hand in all three 2nd half goals.

Everyone in the tight squad we have is playing a part just now and we will need them all to continue that with the heavy fixture load we have.

Dugout Review - Keith 24/03/10   25/3/10
By Management Team

It was good to keep our recent league form going last night. However, we could have made things much easier for ourselves by taking a couple of the chances we had in the first half.

We must have created 7 or 8 really good opportunities in the 1st half but didn't manage to take any of them.
To be fair to Keith much of these missed chances has to go down to great defending as they were prepared to throw bodies in front of the ball.

Although Keith went down to 10 men they still came out in the 2nd half to give it a go. We lost our momentum from the first half, but the introduction of the fresh legs gave us a lift. We then created another few really good opportunities into the last 15mins. On the night we managed to restrict Keith to only 2 or 3 opportunities, but when you do not take any of the chances you create you often worry about a smash and grab.

We now look forward to the long trip to Brora on Saturday.

Dugout Review - Inverurie 20/03/10   22/3/10
By Management Team

Saturday ended up being a very disappointing day for us. We didn't defend properly at two set pieces and we find ourselves out of the cup.

Having battled hard to get back in the game, then getting our noses in front, it's so important that we don't let teams back into games with cheap goals.

The first half of the game was no real spectacle, both sides cancelling each other out for the most part. Coming out 1-0 down we managed to get the ball into wide areas more frequently, and got it delivered into the box.

Both our goals came from getting good delivery into the box from these areas.

It's so important to then make sure we don't concede quickly but as I've said, we let them back in the game too easily. We now have to pick ourselves up and move on to Wednesday night at Keith in our next League game.

Dugout Review - Lossiemouth 17/03/10   19/3/10
By Management Team

The game against Lossiemouth saw us pick up another valuable 3 pts. We
had to work hard for it against a fit and well organized side. We
started the game well which resulted in us commanding the first 45 mins
and going in at the break with a 2 goal lead. Mike's goal, to take him
to 100 goals for the club, was a spectacular strike and a fantastic way
to reach the milestone. The 2nd goal came through Rusty's header, after
a great delivery from Graeme Watt.
The 3rd goal in the game is always important and unfortunately it went
the way of Lossiemouth. The positive we got from there was the fact we
didn't panic and we pushed on to create other chances that on another
day would have finished the game off. We sealed the win with young
Stephen Gauld showing what he can be all about, producing an excellent
finish.
The work rate and teamwork we have seen over the last couple of games
has been what it should be, and if we can continue with that first and
foremost, we will always give ourselves a good chance in games.
