Scott Anderson has release a statement with his thoughts and views after the resignation of his co-manager and colleague Stuart Glennie, it reads as follows:
Scott Anderson has confirmed that he wishes to remain in charge of Deveronvale FC and stated that the performance of the “next generation” last night left him positive about the future of the side.
Speaking 24 hours after the resignation of co-manager Stuart Glennie, Anderson stated, “When Stuart confirmed to me that he was resigning I thought long and hard about my own future. It was a tough day, but the performance of the lads at night really lifted my spirits. I would love to remain in charge and to try to help guide the new generation of players."
“We have blooded Graham Rodger, Craig Cowie, Stephen Gauld, Magnus Barclay, Jack Meldrum and Chris Blackhall during our time here and they have shown that they deserve the chance to gain more and more playing time. Rodger, Cowie and Gauld all really stood out last night against a top Keith team.”
Having won the title at Princess Royal Park as a player Anderson has been keen to emulate that success as a manager, however he believes that the road to such success is to follow the Fraserburgh model.
“When you look at our opponents this weekend you will see players like Marc Dickson, Graham Johnston, Jamie Ralph and Willie West who have been in the team for six or seven years mixed in with the likes of Allan Hale, Bryan Hay and Robert Morrice who have three years of experience with Jamie Beagrie coming in just a year behind that. "
“It has taken a few years for Charlie (Duncan) to blend a team that is now showing the sort of consistency required to be a potential title winning team but that is what he has done. It is something we all have admiration for. I believe our guys have the chance to emulate what the Broch are achieving but we all are aware that young players do take time to settle into consistent patterns of play over the course of a full season.”
Having made his debut for the Banffers as a 15 year old before joining Rangers Anderson believes that the current crop of young players are in a position of opportunity and hopes that the work that has been done by the club over the last decade proves to be the foundation of future success.
“Over the last 15-20 years there have been so many changes at the club and one of those changes has involved the tremendous work that has been done in the community, working with youngsters around the region. Now it is maybe time to look at reaping the on-field benefits of that work although it may mean re-adjusting the expectation levels for the club."
“The Vale were one of the main clubs in the transfer market in the past but now it is almost impossible for us to compete with some other clubs on financial terms. This creates opportunities for the young players and anyone at Kynoch Park last night would have to agree that they deserve that chance". “I will hopefully be sitting down with the board to discuss things in the coming days and I hope the discussions can be positive and progressive.”
Rounding off Anderson added his thanks to his former colleague Stuart Glennie who he hopes will be back in management soon.
“I don’t feel it is right of me to comment on Stuart’s quotes because they are an expression of why he made his decision. What I would say is that he is a good friend and I have really enjoyed working alongside him both here and at Ellon and thank him for everything that he has done over the past four years. I hope he is back in the game sooner rather than later.” |
